Overview
The Public Education Coordinating Division is responsible for the organization, coordination, and implementation of public education campaigns to the citizenry on government policies and programmes.
It is also responsible for getting citizens informed on government deliverables and achievement as well as bringing feedback to government. This is to enable the citizenry be well informed for effective participation towards good governance and national development. The Division comprises of the Education and Sensitization Program Development Unit and the Outreach Unit.
Education and Sensitization Program Development
The unit is responsible for developing and implementing educational and sensitization programs for the public.
Functions:- Planning, coordinating and developing of targeted sensitization and educational programmes and materials for each campaign.
- Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of educational and sensitization programs to ensure that campaign objectives achieve the desired impact.
- Producing and distributing information material (flyers, posters, brochure etc.)
Outreach Unit
The Outreach Unit plays the key role of getting the information to the citizenry through the use of the various channels for public education.
Functions:- It carries out the implementation of the sensitization and educational programmes developed for the campaign.
- Providing Public Address Systems for National, State and Private functions.
- Using mobile vans equipped with audiovisual equipment to reach remote areas.
- Repairing and servicing of public address equipment and mobile vans.
Recent Accomplishments
Some of the recent accomplishments of the Public Education Coordinating Division include:
- Successfully organized public education campaign on the Single Window Citizens Engagement Services (SWCES) in collaboration with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection in February 2024.
- The Division has been organizing public education campaign on the Ghana National Household Registry for the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection since 2016.
- Organized a street announcement project for GRIDCO on the dangers of mounting illegal structures around high tension poles on June 20th 2024.
- Conducted a sensitization campaign on the implementation of the Electronic Transaction Levy (E-Levy) for the Ghana Revenue Authority and Ministry of Finance in May 2022.
- Successfully conducted public education campaign on the need to register for the Ghana Card for the National Identification Authority in November 2019.
- Conducted the Agric Census campaign for the Ministry of Food and Agriculture in April 2018.
