Corporate Ghana, international community donate relief items to flood victims

Corporate Ghana and other organisations have donated cash, food, medical supplies and essential humanitarian items to support victims of the June 29, 2026 flood disaster that affected several parts of the country, particularly Accra.

The donations, received by the Office of the President, form part of ongoing efforts to provide relief to affected communities and support the Government’s post-flood mitigation interventions.

Senior government officials, including the Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of Administration, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo; Legal Advisor to the President, Marietta Brew; and Presidential Adviser and Special Aide, Joyce Bawa Mogtari, received the donations on behalf of the state.

Among the cash contributions were GH¢200,000 from SoftCare FM Manufacturing Company Limited and GH¢50,000 from the Ghana Institute of Surveyors.

The Ghana Association of Chinese Societies and Companies was among the organisations that made a major contribution to the relief effort, presenting a wide range of food, medical and household supplies.

The items included 1,112 bags of 2.5kg rice, 4,000 bags of sachet water, 500 cartons of sunflower oil, 490 cartons of Frytol oil, 490 cartons of canned mackerel, 646 cartons of Kivo gari, 501 cartons of spaghetti, 295 cartons of sardines, 235 cartons of biscuits, 208 cartons of tomato paste, 70 boxes of chocolate cake and 50 cartons of shito and other assorted provisions.

The association also donated 2,000 painless malaria rapid test kits, 800 cartons of HPV test kits and a box of Coartem anti-malaria medication, together with 80 gallons of hand sanitiser and 79 bottles of disinfectant alcohol.

To support affected households, the association further provided 3,000 sleeping mats, 400 school bags, 3,200 T-shirts, 3,100 plastic buckets, 3,000 plastic basins, five stainless steel 2,000-litre water tanks, three chest freezers, 32 electric cookers and 34 electric fans.

Other items included 200 bundles of shovels, 120 cartons of mosquito coils and temporary shelter and bedding materials.

Scancom Plc, MTN Ghana, supported by Multimedia Company Limited’s Flood Relief Campaign on radio and television, also donated 1,400 student mattresses, 1,192 blankets and 998 relief boxes containing essential food items, blankets, mosquito repellents, nets and detergents.

Sentuo Group Limited contributed 4,000 bags of 25kg rice, 600 bags of 50kg sugar and 387 boxes of granular maize to support affected households.

Ecobank Ghana also donated medical supplies, water and household relief items. Its contribution included 10 boxes of paracetamol, 10 boxes of Hydrolyte and four boxes of Gastrone suspension, as well as Ascovit-Cee, Epanol, Permonyl, Nencofer syrup and capsules, dewormers, rubbing alcohol and antimalarial medicines.

The bank also presented 1,000 bags of sachet water, 195 mattresses, 250 blankets and bales of used clothing for men, women and children.

Softcare FM Manufacturing Company Limited complemented its cash contribution with 100 bags of KleenSoft washing powder, 100 boxes of KleenSoft soap, 100 boxes of sanitary pads and 50 boxes of baby diapers.

B5 Plus Limited donated 70 bags of 50kg rice, 100 bags of 50kg maize, 50 cartons of Cerelac baby food, 75 jerrycans of cooking oil, 50 cartons of sardines and bottled water.

Its contribution also included 200 blankets, 200 two-litre jerrycans, 150 mosquito nets, 100 pairs of Wellington boots and 100 raincoats to support people affected by the floods.

Eezzy Group contributed 178 bags of 50kg rice, 842 bags of 2.5kg rice, 120 cartons of spaghetti, 72 boxes of canned beef, 46 cartons of sardines, 22 cartons of tomato paste and 82 cartons of cooking oil in various sizes.

The company also donated seasoning powders and baking supplies.

Tobinco Group provided 100 boxes of Omal antiseptic, 5,000 gallons of Omal liquid soap and 400 gallons of Omazone bleach to support sanitation and hygiene efforts in communities affected by the disaster.

Kam Trading & Farms Limited also donated 445 bags of 25kg rice.

The donations come after torrential rains and subsequent flooding on June 29 caused extensive damage in parts of the country, particularly in the Greater Accra Region, leaving many residents displaced and in need of food, shelter, healthcare and other essential supplies.

The continued response from businesses, professional associations and other organisations has provided additional support to government-led relief and recovery efforts.

The range of items donated, from food and drinking water to mattresses, medical supplies, sanitation products and temporary shelter materials, is expected to assist affected families while recovery and mitigation measures continue.
