Foreign Affairs Minister Assures Volta Chiefs of Commitment to the Region

The Foreign Affairs Minister, Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has assured the Volta Regional House of Chiefs of his continued commitment to the development of the Region and the advancement of Ghana’s interests in the international community.

Mr Ablakwa gave the assurance when the President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs and Paramount Chief of the Anfoega Traditional Area, Togbe Tepre Hodo IV, led a delegation of chiefs to pay a courtesy call on him at the Ministry in Accra.

He said the gesture was particularly meaningful because he had initially intended to visit the Volta Regional House of Chiefs himself, but the House had respectfully declined the offer and chosen instead to visit him at his official workplace.

“I do not take this gesture lightly. It is a great privilege to have our traditional leaders here at the Ministry,” he stated.

The Minister said the visit was also an opportunity to deepen cooperation between the Ministry and traditional authorities in the Volta Region as he continued to serve the country.

On his part, Togbe Tepre Hodo IV commended Mr Ablakwa for his service to Ghana and his continued interest in the development of his constituency and the Volta Region.

He said the region had for years faced challenges in securing its fair share of national resources and development opportunities.

According to him, the situation had begun to change in recent times, which he attributed partly to the Minister’s efforts to draw attention to the interests and development needs of the region.

“Despite your busy national responsibilities, you have maintained a strong connection with the Volta Region,” Togbe Tepre Hodo IV said.

He urged the Minister to continue advocating for the region while serving the broader interests of Ghana.

The chief also expressed confidence that Mr Ablakwa’s position as Foreign Affairs Minister would provide further opportunities for the region and its people to contribute to Ghana’s international engagements.
