GNFS Launches AFCAS Digital Platform to Enhance Fire Safety Compliance
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has announced the commencement of the pilot phase of its Automated Fire Compliance and Safety System (AFCAS), as part of efforts to digitise fire safety regulation and improve service delivery across the country.
The new digital platform, which aligns with the Fire Precaution (Premises) Regulations, 2003 (LI 1724) as amended by LI 2249 of 2016, is designed to enhance enforcement, monitoring, and the overall administration of fire safety services in Ghana.
In a press release issued on Thursday, the AFCAS platform will officially begin pilot operations on Monday, August 3, 2026, and will be accessible online at www.afcas.gov.gh from 9:00 a.m.
As part of the rollout, all existing and prospective fire protection contractors, fire safety service providers, businesses, and individuals have been directed to register on the platform.
The Service emphasised that registration is mandatory and a prerequisite for continued participation in all fire safety-related activities in the country.
According to the GNFS, the AFCAS system has been developed to support its mandate by improving regulatory compliance, strengthening oversight, and facilitating efficient collaboration between the Service and licensed fire safety providers.
The Service explained that the digital platform is expected to significantly improve service delivery and ensure a more transparent and efficient system for managing fire safety compliance nationwide.
“An information brochure has been made available on the AFCAS platform to guide applicants through the registration process. It also provides details on the objectives, benefits, and operational procedures of the system. Service providers have been encouraged to carefully review the information before proceeding with registration,” the statement added.
The GNFS urged all stakeholders to cooperate fully as it pilots the initiative, describing it as a key national reform aimed at improving fire safety compliance and enhancing public safety across Ghana.
