KNUST To Receive 2,000 More Laptops Under One Million Coders Programme

• 1 MIN READ

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is set to receive 2,000 additional laptops under the One Million Coders Programme (OMCP) to support digital skills training on campus.

The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, announced this during a working visit to the university as part of his tour of the Ashanti Region.

The additional laptops will be used to establish 40 new learning centres, increasing the number of OMCP centres at KNUST from 10 to 50.

KNUST had earlier received 500 laptops to equip the initial 10 centres under the programme.

The Minister toured some of the learning centres and interacted with students to assess the implementation of the programme and gather feedback on their experiences.

He also indicated that the Ministry was exploring opportunities to expand the initiative to other tertiary institutions in the Ashanti Region, including Kumasi Technical University.

The expansion is expected to widen access to digital skills training and support efforts to equip more young people with skills relevant to Ghana’s digital economy.
