The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) has hosted the official opening of the Ports Management Association of West and Central Africa (PMAWCA) Technical Committee Meetings in Tema.
The three‑day event, which commenced on Wednesday, was opened by GPHA Director‑General Major General Paul Seidu Tanye‑Kulono, alongside the Director of the Port of Tema, Mr. Tebon Zumah, and PMAWCA Secretary‑General Mr. Jean Marie‑Koffi.
The sessions involved three committees: the Maritime Security, Environmental Protection and Operations (MSEPO), Technical Studies, Infrastructure and Development (TSID), and Liaison Officers (LOs), each tasked with addressing specific challenges within the maritime and port industry.
In his welcome remarks, Major General Tanye‑Kulono encouraged delegates to share experiences, best practices and innovative ideas that will strengthen port management, enhance regional cooperation and improve service delivery across West and Central Africa
He was confident that the meetings would serve as a valuable platform for knowledge‑sharing and the development of practical solutions to challenges confronting the sector in the region.
The event brought together port representatives from across the sub‑region to deliberate on critical issues affecting port development, operations and service delivery.
