OVERVIEW
The Regional Coordinating Office (RCO) coordinates regional inputs for policies, regulations and standards to build and maintain an efficient government information system to support national development.
The Office provides strategic leadership, technical and administrative support for the implementation of the mandate of the Department, and coordinates, supervises and monitors the activities of the 16 Regional Offices and 261 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs).
These include Research Surveys, Public Education Campaigns (PECs), Performance Appraisals, Access to Information activities, Public Relations coordination, and content contributions to the Media Division.
REGIONAL INFORMATION OFFICE
Operating at the regional level, these offices serve as the primary supervisory nodes for the Department's national agenda.
Core Functions
- Supervises Public Education Campaigns (PECs) within the region.
- Scouts and recommends Public Education Campaign opportunities at the regional level.
- Collaborates in the preparation and distribution of press releases.
- Collects and processes public relations reports on government policies and programmes for onward transmission to Head Office and Parliament.
- Facilitates activities and programmes that align with regional development priorities.
METROPOLITAN / MUNICIPAL / DISTRICT OFFICES
Operating at the grassroots level, the MMDA offices are the direct link between the government and local communities.
Core Functions
- Implements Public Education Campaigns at the district level.
- Supports the preparation and distribution of press releases.
- Serves as spokespersons for Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies.
- Prepares situational and public reaction reports.
- Conducts surveys and field research activities.
- Produces feature articles and community-based communication reports.
KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS
The Regional Coordinating Office (RCO), in collaboration with the Public Education Coordinating Division, has successfully supervised and monitored the following Public Education Campaigns:
- February 2024: Successfully organized public education campaign on the Single Window Citizens Engagement Services (SWCES) in collaboration with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection.
- June 2024: Organized a street announcement project for GRIDCO on the dangers of mounting illegal structures around high-tension poles.
- May 2022: Conducted sensitization campaign on the implementation of the Electronic Transaction Levy (E-Levy) for the Ghana Revenue Authority and Ministry of Finance.
- November 2019: Successfully conducted public education campaign on the need to register for the Ghana Card for the National Identification Authority.
- April 2018: Conducted the Agric Census campaign for the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.
- Since 2016: Organized continuous public education campaigns on the Ghana National Household Registry for the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection.

- Coordinate, supervise and monitor activities of regional and district offices.
- Collaborate with the Public Education Coordinating Division (PECD) to coordinate and monitor Public Education Campaigns (PECs).
- Facilitate training programmes for field officers to support effective campaign implementation.
- Gather research data on issues of national interest at the regional and district levels.
- Collate feedback on government and ISD programmes for onward submission to Head Office.
