President Mahama Commends Health Workers Posted to Daffiama-Bussie-Issa District
President John Dramani Mahama has commended young health professionals who accepted postings to the Daffiama-Bussie-Issa District.
In his address at a Free Primary Healthcare Durbar in the district during his Resetting Ghana tour of the Upper West Region, the President said their willingness to take up the posting stood out against a persistent national challenge of public officers declining to serve in certain parts of the country.
“One of the major challenges we have faced over the years is that many health professionals, teachers, civil servants, and other public officers refuse postings to certain parts of the country,” he said.
He said the young health workers present had accepted that responsibility and were now working to improve health outcomes for the people of the district.
“These young brothers and sisters have accepted that responsibility, and they are here to help improve the health outcomes of the people of this district,” he added.
President Mahama personally saluted the health workers on behalf of the country.
“As President of Ghana, I salute you, and the people of Ghana appreciate your service,” he said.
He also appealed to residents of the district to welcome the health workers and make them feel at home, urging the community to show them kindness through simple acts of generosity.
“I ask the people of this district to make their lives comfortable here. Show them kindness and make them feel at home. If you harvest yam, share some with them. If you have a guinea fowl, give them one, so they will know they are welcome in your community,” he said.
