Gov’t Flood Relief Response Coordinated and Continuous – Presidential Spokesperson

Government’s response to the recent floods has been swift, coordinated and continuous, carried out under the direct instruction of President John Dramani Mahama.
Minister of state in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, gave the assurance at a press briefing on the national flood situation, noting that the floods have affected seven regions, with Greater Accra, Central and Volta Regions recording the most severe impact.
He said the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), through the Relief and Donations Committee, has begun the aggressive mobilisation and distribution of relief items to affected communities, with the exercise carried out in structured phases to ensure orderly, efficient and timely delivery.
Relief items being distributed include food, clean drinking water, temporary shelter materials, blankets and essential medical supplies.
Mr Kwakye Ofosu said the first phase of distribution took place on Wednesday, 1 July 2026, reaching La Dade Kotopon Municipality, Ayawaso Central and Korle Klottey Municipality.
A second phase followed on Thursday, 2 July 2026, extending relief items to Krowor Municipality, Ga East (Dome-Kwabenya), Shai-Osudoku, Ada East, Ablekuma North, Ada West and Okaikwei North.
He assured residents of the Central, Volta, Western, Ashanti, Western North and Eastern Regions that they have not been forgotten, adding that logistics are being mobilised to transport substantial relief supplies to all affected districts across the country.
The Minister said NADMO Regional Coordinators are already on the ground coordinating relief operations, with additional supplies expected to arrive in affected communities in the coming days.
He commended the dedication and sacrifice of emergency service personnel, the Ghana Armed Forces, the Ghana Police Service, health workers and volunteer groups who continue to work tirelessly to support affected communities.
He urged citizens to remain vigilant and strictly adhere to safety warnings issued by the relevant authorities, and encouraged the public to promptly report emergencies to facilitate swift response by the emergency services.
He said the Mahama Administration remains committed to ensuring that every displaced family receives support and that every affected community is restored, adding that Government’s goal is not only to provide immediate relief but also to rebuild communities to become stronger and more resilient against future flooding and extreme weather events.
Regular public briefings will continue to keep Ghanaians informed on relief operations and recovery efforts as the situation evolves, he said.
