Government Orders Immediate Reversal of GDCL Staff Suspension

The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations has intervened to stop the suspension of contract staff at the Ghana Digital Centres Limited (GDCL).

In a circular dated July 1, 2026, GDCL announced the temporary suspension of employment contracts for all staff pending a “comprehensive assessment.”

The Ministry, however, described the directive as unacceptable and instructed management to reverse it immediately.

“All GDCL staff are to disregard the directive,” the statement read.

The Ministry emphasised its solidarity with workers, noting that many had already been personally affected by the June 29 floods.

“At a time when staff have been personally affected by the floods, the Ministry stands with its staff and the staff of all our Agencies,” it said.

Management of GDCL has been summoned to the Ministry on July 2, following the Minister’s visit to the Centre on June 30 to assess the damage caused by the floods to the facility and businesses operating there.
