Adansi South MP Supports 700 BECE Graduates with Educational Items

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Adansi South, Mr Abdul-Salam Adams, has donated educational items to 700 students transitioning to Senior High School (SHS) in the district.

The items, comprising 700 student mattresses, 700 chop boxes and 600 packs of sanitary pads, were distributed on behalf of the MP by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Oheneba Kobena Andoh, at a ceremony held at the forecourt of the Produce Buying Company (PBC) in New Edubiase on Tuesday.

The intervention, described as the first of its kind in the history of the district, would ease the burden on parents and support students in their secondary education.

Mr Abdul-Salam Adams encouraged beneficiaries to take their studies seriously and make the most of the opportunity to pursue higher education.

He recounted the challenges he faced in accessing education due to his humble background and urged the students not to allow difficult circumstances to hinder their academic aspirations.

The District Chief Executive, Mr Oheneba Kobena Andoh, who presented the items to the students, expressed appreciation to the MP for the initiative, describing it as a significant investment in the future of the youth.

He stated that the District Assembly would continue to collaborate with the MP to promote education and implement development projects that would enhance teaching and learning in the district.

The District Director of Education, Mr Ebenezer Kofi Asare, advised the students to eschew drug abuse and all forms of deviant behaviour that could derail their future ambitions.

He urged them to remain disciplined, focused and committed to their studies in order to achieve academic excellence.

Mr Asare commended the MP for the support, noting that throughout his years of service in the district, he had not witnessed a similar intervention. He appealed to the MP to sustain his investment in education to help improve students’ performance in external examinations.

The ceremony was attended by beneficiaries, parents and guardians, members of the clergy, security personnel, media practitioners, heads of departments of the District Assembly and a large section of the public.
