Kwadaso Municipal Assembly Supports 120 BECE Graduates with Mattresses and Chop Boxes

The Kwadaso Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti Region has provided 120 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) graduates with mattresses and plastic chop boxes to ease the financial burden on parents as the beneficiaries prepare to enter Senior High School (SHS).

The beneficiaries were selected from public basic schools across the Municipality based on vulnerability and need.

The items were presented by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Eric Asibey, at a brief ceremony held on Thursday at the forecourt of the Assembly.

Speaking at the ceremony, he said education remained a key priority of the Assembly and an essential foundation for development. He explained that the intervention was to complement the Government’s Free SHS policy by ensuring that no child was denied access to second-cycle education because of a lack of basic boarding items.

The MCE urged the beneficiaries to be disciplined, obedient and focused on their studies. He also advised them to avoid drug abuse, truancy and other behaviours that could negatively affect their future.

He called on parents to continue providing the necessary guidance, supervision, and support to their wards while they are in SHS.

The Acting Municipal Director of Education, Mr Clifford Budu Heneku, commended the MCE and the Assembly for their continued investment in education.

He said the intervention would contribute to improving the transition rate of pupils from Junior High School (JHS) to SHS within the Municipality.

Some parents and beneficiaries who spoke after the presentation thanked the MCE and the Assembly, describing the gesture as timely and helpful.
