Gender Ministry Outlines 2027–2030 Priorities at Budget Hearing
The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has outlined its key priorities for the 2027–2030 period, with renewed focus on strengthening social protection, protecting vulnerable groups and improving access to social welfare services.
The Minister, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, led Directors and technical officers to the Finance Ministry for the 2027–2030 Budget Technical Hearing, where the Ministry presented its proposed programmes and interventions.
The presentation emphasised consolidating recent policy and legislative gains while ensuring approved frameworks are effectively implemented to improve support for children, women, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups.
Among the areas identified for further attention were child protection, domestic abuse, ageing, young persons’ justice and the regulation of non-profit organisations. The Ministry also highlighted the need to advance outstanding legislation in these areas as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s social protection system.
The Ministry further outlined plans to improve protection and support services for survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking, alongside efforts to strengthen social services and monitoring systems across the country.
The priorities form part of the Ministry’s preparations for the 2027 Budget, which the Ministry of Finance has indicated will be developed within the 2027–2030 medium-term framework.
The hearing therefore provided an opportunity for the Ministry to align its planned interventions with the broader medium-term development priorities and budget framework of the government.
