The Chinese Defence Attaché to Ghana, Colonel Dou Yan, has paid a working visit to the Deputy Minister of Defence, Mr. Ernest Brogya Genfi, as part of ongoing diplomatic engagements aimed at strengthening defence and security cooperation between the two nations.
The meeting focused on enhancing Ghana–China military collaboration, particularly in the areas of personnel training and the construction of the headquarters of the National College of Defence Studies, which will host Ghana’s new National Defence University. The project marks a significant step in Ghana’s defence education reforms.
During the meeting in Accra on Tuesday, the Deputy Minister expressed appreciation to the Government of China for its support in the Z-9 helicopter crash investigation, noting that China’s assistance reflects its commitment to Ghana’s security and the long-standing partnership between the two countries.
Mr.Brogya Genfi added that, the visit follows the recent State visit of the President and Commander-in-Chief, John Dramani Mahama to China, which revitalised bilateral relations and reaffirmed both countries’ commitment to deepening cooperation in the defence sector.
Colonel Dou Yan reaffirmed China’s readiness to further strengthen defence ties and formally invited the Deputy Minister to China for further engagements.
Discussions also centred on expanding military-to-military cooperation and exploring new areas of collaboration beneficial to both nations.
