Chesterfield Plus Waste Management Limited Distributes Working Equipment to Sanitation Staff in Ahafo-Ano South-East District

Chesterfield Plus Waste Management Limited has distributed working equipment to its sanitation staff in the Ahafo-Ano South-East District to enhance effective waste management and improve sanitation in the area.

Chesterfield Plus Waste Management Limited is a registered company that partners with the Government of Ghana to address sanitation challenges across the country.

The distribution exercise took place on Monday, in collaboration with the Ahafo-Ano South-East District Assembly through its Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit, headed by Mr Solomon Kenny Agyekum.

The company, led by its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr Ebenezer Kwabena Adjei Baffie, also inaugurated its sanitation operations and distributed the equipment to the workers.

Speaking at the event, Mr Adjei Baffie said the company had signed a two-year sanitation service contract with the Assembly. Under the agreement, the company is mandated to sweep, collect and hygienically dispose of waste from principal streets and markets across the district.

Speaking on behalf of the District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Ibrahim Yamba Nelson Issaka, the District Coordinating Director (DCD), Mr Daniel Fofie, noted that waste sweeping, collection and disposal services in the district were no longer under the control of Zoomlion.

He explained that the Assembly had agreed with Chesterfield Plus Waste Management Limited to help address the sanitation challenges confronting the district.

Mr Adjei Baffie said the company had significantly improved the conditions of service for its workers. Compared with the previous arrangement, he said Chesterfield Plus Waste Management Limited had increased workers’ salaries by 300 per cent to motivate them to work harder and improve service delivery.

The equipment distributed included Aboboya tricycles, wheelbarrows, Wellington boots, shovels, brooms, hand gloves, nose masks and other essential working tools.

The initiative is expected to strengthen waste collection and disposal services and contribute to improved environmental sanitation across the Ahafo-Ano South-East District.
