Deputy Trade Minister Engages Africa, Caribbean and US Fellows on Trade and Industrial Partnerships
The Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Mr Sampson Ahi, has affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to promoting partnerships that support trade, investment, agribusiness and industrialisation.
He made the statement when he hosted a delegation of 13 international fellows from Africa, the Caribbean and the United States of America.
He welcomed the delegation on behalf of the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, at a meeting held to discuss Ghana’s trade, agribusiness and industrial development agenda and explore opportunities for collaboration.
Discussions focused on key areas, including trade promotion, the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), transport and logistics, industrial development, agribusiness, institutional strengthening and educational collaboration.
He encouraged the fellows to leverage the knowledge gained during the visit to strengthen collaboration between Ghana and their respective countries.
The Deputy Minister further highlighted the Government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for business, investment and industrial growth, stressing that international cooperation remains vital to achieving inclusive and sustainable development.
The visit formed part of a follow-up engagement following an earlier meeting between the Ministry and the African Start-ups and SMEs in Export Trade Secretariat (ASSETS) held two weeks ago.
It provided the fellows with an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the Ministry’s mandate, programmes and strategic priorities.
The fellows also exchanged ideas with officials of the Ministry on how international partnerships can contribute to sustainable economic development.
Leading the delegation, Professor John Woods, Founder of the Garvey Nkrumah Fellowship Programme, thanked the Deputy Minister for his warm reception and the time spent engaging the delegation.
He said the interaction had provided the fellows with important insights into Ghana’s trade and industrial policies and commended the Ministry for its efforts to drive economic transformation.
