Ghana Opens “Ghana House” in Glasgow to Boost Trade, Tourism, and Culture Ahead of 2026 Commonwealth Games
Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ireland, H.E. Mrs Sabah Zita Benson, has opened Ghana House in Glasgow to deepen Ghana’s diplomatic, trade and cultural ties across the Commonwealth.
The facility will also showcase Ghana’s tourism and investment opportunities throughout the 2026 Commonwealth Games, providing an avenue to engage international visitors, business leaders and potential investors.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mrs Benson said Ghana House was more than a venue for the Games, describing it as a gateway for the international community to experience Ghana’s culture, hospitality and economic opportunities.
“Ghana House is a symbol of our national pride and a gateway through which visitors from across the Commonwealth can experience the warmth, hospitality and limitless opportunities that Ghana offers,” she said.
The High Commissioner said Ghana was using the Commonwealth Games to strengthen relationships that extend beyond sports, creating opportunities for trade, investment, tourism and cultural exchange.
“This initiative reflects our commitment to using global sporting events to build stronger diplomatic relations, deepen commercial partnerships and share Ghana’s rich cultural identity with the world,” she added.
Mrs Benson said the project forms part of Ghana’s broader effort to promote the country as an attractive destination for business and tourism while strengthening links with the Ghanaian community abroad.
Throughout the Games, Ghana House will host business networking forums, investment promotion sessions, tourism exhibitions, cultural performances, media engagements and community activities designed to introduce visitors to Ghana’s diverse heritage.
Guests will also experience authentic Ghanaian cuisine, music, fashion, arts and crafts, providing what organisers describe as an immersive Ghanaian experience in the centre of Glasgow.

Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddi Adams, said Ghana House would complement Team Ghana’s participation at the Games by giving the country a strong presence beyond the competition venues.
He commended the partnership between the Ghana High Commission, the Ghana Olympic Committee and other stakeholders, saying the initiative demonstrates Ghana’s determination to present a united image while creating opportunities for lasting international partnerships.
As competition gets underway at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, Ghana House is expected to become a focal point for promoting the country’s culture, tourism, investment opportunities and international partnerships, while serving as a meeting place for Ghanaians and friends of Ghana from across the Commonwealth.
Located on the first floor of the St. Enoch Centre in the heart of Glasgow, Ghana House will serve as Ghana’s official hospitality and engagement centre throughout the Games, welcoming athletes, government officials, business leaders, members of the Ghanaian diaspora, tourists and international visitors.
The facility was inaugurated by the High Commissioner together with the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Mr Kofi Iddi Adams, the Ghana Olympic Committee and the Ghana House Coordinating Committee.
