Government Ready to Partner with ASSETS on AfCFTA Trade Support – Deputy Trade Minister

The Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Mr Sampson Ahi, has said Government stands ready to partner with the African Start-ups and SMEs in Export Trade Secretariat (ASSETS) to strengthen the capacity of Ghanaian startups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to access regional and international markets.
He made this known when he received a delegation from ASSETS, led by its team lead, Mr Peter Adetor, during a courtesy call at the Ministry on Thursday.
Mr Ahi received the delegation on behalf of the Sector Minister, Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to working with strategic partners to create opportunities for local enterprises to expand into regional and global markets.
He commended ASSETS for its commitment to supporting the growth of Ghanaian businesses and promoting intra-African trade.
The visit was aimed at introducing ASSETS and its ongoing trade support initiatives for Ghanaian startups and SMEs, while exploring opportunities for collaboration with the Ministry in advancing the country’s trade and industrialisation agenda.
During the meeting, the delegation highlighted key areas for potential collaboration, including capacity building, export readiness programmes, trade missions, and the effective implementation of the AfCFTA.
Discussions also centred on policy directions to support SMEs in international trade, particularly in the areas of access to finance, regulatory compliance, and market access.
