Lands Ministry, Forestry Commission Donate Relief Items to Samreboi Flood Victims

The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and the Forestry Commission have donated relief items to residents affected by the recent floods in Samreboi in the Western North Region.
The Technical Director of Forestry at the Ministry, Mr Joseph Osiakwan, presented the items on Monday, on behalf of the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources.
The donation included 20 camp beds, 200 pairs of Wellington boots, 100 raincoats, 600 cutlasses, 130 mosquito nets, 100 bags of rice, 50 boxes of cooking oil, 50 boxes of canned mackerel and 50 boxes of canned tomatoes.
Presenting the items, Mr Osiakwan said the support was intended to assure affected families that government had not abandoned them during the difficult period.
He said the Ministry and the Forestry Commission remained committed to supporting communities affected by the floods and would continue to work with other stakeholders to provide assistance where needed.
Mr Osiakwan also urged residents and community leaders to take practical measures to address the causes of flooding in the area to reduce the risk of similar incidents in the future.
The presentation was attended by the Board Chair of the Forestry Commission, Mr Isaac Essien; the Acting Executive Director of the Timber Industry Development Division, Dr Richard Gyimah; the Acting Executive Director of the Forestry Services Division, Dr Gordon Kofi Sarfo Adu; the General Manager of Samartex Timber Company, Mr Ransford Quaidoo; and officials of the Forestry Commission from the Asankragwa office.
