Families displaced by the recent floods in Prestea Himan have received relief support from the Member of Parliament (MP) for Prestea Huni Valley, Mr Robert Wisdom Cudjoe, and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Matthew Kofi Ayeh.

Speaking at the event, Mr Ayeh recalled touring the affected areas with the MP right after the disaster and described the damage as devastating, adding that the items reflect the MPโ€™s commitment to standing with affected families.

He also urged residents to improve sanitation and take steps to prevent future floods.

Mr Cudjoe thanked NADMO for providing accurate data and praised traditional leaders and Assembly Members for helping with a smooth distribution process.

He assured victims that any further support from national authorities would be delivered to the community.

The MCE also warned residents to stop building on waterways and dumping refuse in drains, saying, โ€œStructures on unauthorised waterways will be marked and demolished in line with the law,โ€ and called on chiefs and Assembly Members to help enforce the rules.

The donation was handed over to the NADMO and the Divisional Chief of Prestea Himan, Nana Nteboah Prah IV, for distribution to verified victims.

Nana Nteboah Prah IV thanked all stakeholders for the swift response and promised fair and transparent distribution according to NADMOโ€™s register.

Items distributed included 100 bags of 5kg rice, 20 boxes of cooking oil, 30 boxes of tin fish, and 100 student mattresses.

The event also included education on flood prevention, such as keeping drains clean and building only in approved areas.
