MahamaCares enlists Regional Ministers to drive public awareness of Ghana Medical Trust Fund

The Ghana Medical Trust Fund has brought together Regional Ministers from across the country to enlist their support in driving public awareness of the fund ahead of stakeholder engagement activities planned for all 16 regions.
The meeting, held at the Presidency, brought together the Deputy Chief of Staff, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, the Deputy Minister for Health, Prof Dr Grace Ayensu-Danquah, Regional Ministers and the Administrator of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku.
The Administrator called on the Regional Ministers to champion the fund within their regions, engaging traditional leaders, faith-based organisations, healthcare providers, civil society organisations, the media and local communities to spread awareness of the fund’s mandate and how eligible Ghanaians could access its support.
The Regional Ministers pledged their commitment to the initiative as the fund prepared to roll out stakeholder engagements across all 16 regions.
The Ghana Medical Trust Fund, also known as MahamaCares, was established to ensure that no eligible Ghanaian was denied access to life-saving specialised healthcare because of financial difficulty.
The regional engagement drive marks a step toward bringing that support closer to communities across the country, using the reach and influence of regional leadership to ensure awareness of the fund extended beyond urban centres into districts and communities where the need was often greatest.
