The Vice President, Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, has called on the Office of the Registrar of Companies (ORC) to strengthen public education on its services.

She noted that greater public awareness will encourage more businesses to register and boost confidence in the institution.

The Vice President made the call when the Registrar of Companies, Maame Samma Peprah, led a delegation from the ORC on a courtesy call on her to discuss efforts to deepen business formalisation and expand company registration across the country.

Professor Opoku Agyemang commended the Office for introducing outreach programmes that bring business registration services closer to entrepreneurs and communities.

She encouraged the Office to continue making business registration simpler and more accessible while increasing public awareness of its reforms and achievements.

“Keeping citizens well informed about the work of the Office will help strengthen public confidence, encourage voluntary compliance with business registration requirements, and enable more entrepreneurs to benefit from the services provided by the institution”, she stated.

She said effective communication about the Office’s work would help more entrepreneurs understand the benefits of formalising their businesses and contribute to improving Ghana’s business environment.

Mrs. Peprah briefed the Vice President on the Office’s mandate, ongoing reforms and nationwide business registration and sensitisation clinics aimed at promoting formalisation, particularly within the informal sector.

She said the outreach programme is helping entrepreneurs access registration services while educating them on the legal and economic benefits of operating registered businesses.

“The initiative is designed to improve access to registration services, educate entrepreneurs on the benefits of formalising their businesses, and increase compliance with Ghana’s business registration laws”, she said.

She affirmed the Office’s commitment to supporting government’s efforts to create a transparent, inclusive and business friendly environment by ensuring that entrepreneurs across the country can easily register their businesses.
