Agric Ministry Warns Public Against Fake Agricultural SMEs Grant Scheme
The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) has cautioned the public against fraudulent documents circulating on social media and other online platforms claiming to offer grants under a supposed Agricultural SMEs Grant Initiative 2026.
In a press release issued on Friday, the Ministry said it had become aware of fake documents titled “Agricultural SMEs Grant Initiative 2026 Application Form” and “Conditional Approval of your application for the Agricultural SMEs Grant Initiative (2026).”
The documents falsely claim that MoFA is offering grants to agricultural small and medium-sized enterprises and invites members of the public to submit applications.
The Ministry said the documents direct applicants to unofficial email addresses, websites and contacts that have no connection with MoFA.
It stated that no such grant programme exists and described the circulating documents as a scam designed to deceive unsuspecting members of the public.
It stressed that no individual, committee or organisation has been authorised to receive applications, process grants, request accreditation fees or collect personal information on behalf of the Ministry through the channels being promoted.
The Ministry said it is working with the relevant security agencies to investigate the matter and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
It advised the public not to respond to any requests linked to the purported grant scheme and urged individuals to verify information about the Ministry through its Public Relations Unit or official communication channels before taking any action.
MoFA also thanked the public for their cooperation in helping prevent fraud and protect people from falling victim to the scam.
