Ghana Navy, Petroleum Commission Strengthen Partnership to Protect Offshore Oil and Gas

The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing, has confirmed the Ghana Navy’s commitment to safeguarding the country’s offshore oil and gas assets, describing their protection as a shared national responsibility.

He made the remarks on Thursday when the Consultant for Petroleum Security at the Ghana Petroleum Commission, Mr Emmanuel Basintale Amadu, paid a courtesy call on him at the Naval Headquarters in Accra.

Rear Admiral Bessie emphasized the need for sustained collaboration among key stakeholders to maintain a safe and secure maritime environment.

 He noted that the Ghana Navy would continue to work closely with the Petroleum Commission and other relevant institutions to protect the nation’s offshore petroleum infrastructure and maritime resources.

Mr Basintale commended the Ghana Navy for its critical role in securing offshore oil and gas installations and ensuring the safety of maritime operations.

He stressed that continuous cooperation, particularly through information sharing and coordinated security efforts, was essential to protecting Ghana’s critical national assets.

The meeting formed part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between the Ghana Navy and the Petroleum Commission to enhance maritime security and ensure the effective protection of Ghana’s offshore oil and gas assets.
