Ghana Publishing Company develops e-Gazette, e-Bookshop platforms to expand public access
The Ghana Publishing Company Limited is developing digital platforms to enable the public to access government gazettes and purchase Acts of Ghana online as part of efforts to modernise the country’s official publishing services.
The initiatives, comprising an e-Gazette platform and an e-Bookshop, are expected to make official publications more accessible while creating new channels for the company to distribute its products and generate revenue.
This was disclosed by the Managing Director of the Company, Nana Kwasi Boaitey who explained that the digital initiatives formed part of reforms to improve service delivery and adapt the company’s operations to changing technology.
“We are developing an e-Gazette platform, and we are also introducing an e-Bookshop where people can purchase Acts of Ghana online. We want to make our publications accessible to the public and ensure that people can obtain these documents without necessarily having to visit our offices,” the MD emphasised.
The e-Gazette platform is intended to provide digital access to official government gazettes, while the e-Bookshop will allow users to purchase legislative publications electronically.
The Managing Director said the platforms were being developed alongside investments in modern printing technology to improve the company’s capacity to deliver both physical and digital publishing services.
He cited the establishment of a digital printing press, completed in January 2026 and inaugurated by President John Dramani Mahama, as part of the company’s modernisation programme.
The company has also introduced a 24-hour operational system, which has reduced the production time for ordinary gazettes from eight weeks to three weeks and premium gazettes from one week to three days.
Nana Boaitey said the reforms were necessary to improve the company’s efficiency and address financial and operational challenges that confronted it when he assumed office in February 2025.
He explained that management had introduced new departments, including quality control, legal, commercial sales and corporate affairs, while strengthening financial controls to ensure that revenue was paid directly into the company’s bank account.
The measures have coincided with improved financial performance, with the company’s revenue rising from GH¢60.78 million in 2024 to GH¢72.85 million in 2025.
Profit after tax also increased from GH¢2.23 million to GH¢16.96 million over the same period.
The company is further preparing to receive security-printing equipment valued at €1.5 million, which is expected to expand its capacity to produce specialised documents, including cheque books and passports.
The Managing Director said the combination of digital services, modern printing technology and operational reforms would help the company expand its reach and improve its long-term financial position.
