NACOC Pursues Accomplices in Ghana After Drug Arrest in Lebanon

• 1 MIN READ

The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) says it is working to arrest accomplices in Ghana following the arrest of a Syrian national at the Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut, Lebanon.

In a statement issued on Sunday, NACOC said the suspect was arrested on Saturday, after arriving from Accra with approximately 40 kilograms of suspected cocaine concealed in two pieces of luggage.

According to the Commission, the arrest resulted from a coordinated controlled delivery exercise carried out through close operational cooperation between Ghanaian and Lebanese drug law enforcement authorities.

NACOC said the joint operation was aimed at identifying and apprehending targets at both ends of the supply chain while gathering vital intelligence to dismantle the broader transnational criminal syndicate behind the shipment.

It added that the exercise demonstrates the collaborative commitment of Ghana and Lebanon to disrupting international drug trafficking networks through cross-border intelligence sharing.
