The Director-General of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), Maj. Gen. Maxwell Obuba Mantey, has called for stronger collaboration between Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire to combat illicit drug trafficking and related criminal activities along their shared border.

The call was made during a working visit to the Ivorian Border Post at Noe as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in addressing cross-border drug trafficking.

Maj. Gen. Obuba Mantey appealed to the Ivorian Border Security Authorities to continue working towards the common goal of suppressing illicit drug activities.

He assured the authorities that NACOC, together with other state security agencies that constitute the Elubo Border Security Committee (BORSEC), would continue to uphold the professional and ethical principles guiding their operations.

The NACOC Director-General, who was accompanied by the Deputy Director-General in charge of Enforcement, Control and Elimination, Lawyer Alexander Twum-Barimah, and other management members, also expressed appreciation for the existing cooperation between the border security authorities of both countries and confirmed NACOC’s commitment to ensuring that the drug trafficking network is curtailed.

For his part, the Ivorian Border Post Commissioner of Customs, Avon Tah Felix, commended the delegation for the visit and assured that the Ivorian Border Post Authorities will continue to offer their support in diverse ways to protect both countries’ interests.
