Government has decided to begin designing a modern multi-purpose stadium for Ho, President John Dramani Mahama has announced, following an inspection of the Ho Sports Stadium.

President Mahama made the announcement during a Resetting Ghana citizens’ engagement held at the Ho Technical University, as part of his tour of the Volta Region. “We also inspected the Ho Sports Stadium today and have decided to begin designing a modern multi-purpose stadium,” he said.

He said the new facility would include restaurants, shops, entertainment centres and other commercial facilities to ensure that it remained active throughout the week and not only during football matches.

“The new facility will include restaurants, shops, entertainment centres and other commercial facilities so that it remains active throughout the week and not only during football matches,” he said.

The announcement formed part of a broader update on infrastructure projects across the Volta Region, which included the ongoing Aflao Market project and plans for the Ho Airport, aimed at transforming it into an aviation hub with a pilot training school, aeronautical engineering training centre and aircraft maintenance facilities.

President Mahama said such projects were part of government’s commitment to accountable governance, describing the Resetting Ghana Tour as an opportunity to report to citizens on the various sectors under his ministers’ responsibility.

He said he had brought along his ministers to account for their sectors, commending them for what he described as detailed and spirited presentations.
