IGP Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthen Security in Oti Region
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has reaffirmed the Ghana Police Service’s commitment to strengthening security and maintaining law and order in the Oti Region through sustained security operations and enhanced collaboration with key stakeholders.
The assurance was given when the IGP, accompanied by members of the Police Management Board (POMAB), paid a courtesy call on the Oti Regional Minister, Mr John Kwadwo Gyapong, as part of the Police Administration’s working visit to the region.
The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration between the Ghana Police Service and the Oti Regional Coordinating Council to enhance security and improve public safety across the region.
Addressing the meeting, the Inspector-General of Police assured the Regional Minister of the Police Administration’s unwavering support for the region and reiterated the Service’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
Mr Yohuno noted that the Ghana Police Service had established a strong operational presence across the Oti Region and would continue to intensify intelligence-led operations to combat crime, apprehend offenders and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice.
He stressed that the Police Administration would continue to work closely with the Regional Coordinating Council and other stakeholders to sustain peace, strengthen public confidence and create a secure environment for socio-economic development in the region.
The Regional Minister, Mr John Kwadwo Gyapong, commended the Ghana Police Service for its efforts in maintaining peace and security in the Oti Region, particularly in combating armed robbery and other criminal activities.
The Regional Minister appealed to the Police Administration to deploy additional personnel and provide more operational vehicles to the region to enhance the Service’s operational capacity and improve its response to emerging security challenges.
He also encouraged the Police to remain steadfast in tackling all forms of crime to ensure the continued safety of residents.
