Prisons Service Seeks Trade Ministry Support for Inmate Skills Training

The Director-General of the Ghana Prisons Service, Patience Baffoe Bonnie, has called for stronger collaboration with the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry to expand skills training, industrial development and agribusiness initiatives in the prison system.

She made the call when she met the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, in Accra on Thursday to discuss areas of collaboration to support priority projects and programmes of the Service.

Mrs Baffoe Bonnie said the partnership would create opportunities for inmates to acquire practical and employable skills, enhance their welfare and support their rehabilitation and reintegration into society.

She said collaboration in agribusiness and productive ventures would also promote self-reliance within the Prisons Service.

Mrs Ofosu-Adjare assured the Director-General of the Ministry’s commitment to working with the Service to implement initiatives that would create opportunities, build skills and contribute to national development.
