President Mahama Arrives in Egypt for AU Mid-Year Coordination Summit

• 2 MIN READ

President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Alamein, Egypt, to participate in the 8th African Union Mid-Year Coordination Summit and the maiden Alamein Africa Forum, which is being held alongside the Heads of State gathering.

The Alamein Africa Forum is scheduled to open on Saturday with an address by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, followed by a keynote address by Nigerian businessman, Aliko Dangote.

President Mahama is expected to deliver the keynote address at a plenary session on “Investing in Health: Manufacturing and Regional Value Chains,” where he will examine health as a strategic economic sector and an investable market rather than solely as a social expenditure.

The session is expected to provide a platform for discussions on strengthening Africa’s capacity to manufacture health-related products, develop regional value chains and attract investment into the continent’s health sector.

The President’s participation in the forum forms part of Ghana’s engagement with continental efforts to advance economic integration and sustainable development through stronger partnerships between governments, businesses and financial institutions.

The 8th African Union Mid-Year Coordination Summit of Heads of State and Government will take place on Sunday, bringing together African leaders to deliberate on matters relating to the continent’s integration and development agenda.

President Mahama is also expected to hold key bilateral engagements on the sidelines of the summit, including a meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

The Alamein Africa Forum and the AU Mid-Year Coordination Summit are expected to bring together governments, businesses and financial institutions to explore investment opportunities, strengthen partnerships and advance Africa’s economic integration and sustainable development agenda
