GACL Introduces Enhanced Security Screening for Departing Passengers

The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has announced the introduction of enhanced security screening measures at Accra International Airport, requiring all departing passengers to undergo pre-screening checks before entering the Departure Hall.
According to a statement issued by GACL on Friday, the pre-screening exercise is being conducted by the Narcotics Control Commission at the entrance to the Departure Hall.
“Passengers will be required to have their luggage screened using scanning machines and sniffer dogs before proceeding to the check-in area,” it added.
GACL explained that the additional security procedures form part of efforts to strengthen airport security and align with practices implemented at several international airports worldwide.
To facilitate the smooth completion of the screening process, passengers have been advised to arrive at the airport at least three hours before their scheduled departure time.
This, the company noted, will provide adequate time for security checks, check-in procedures and other boarding formalities.
The airport operator also reminded the public that access to the Departure Hall remains restricted to travelling passengers only, and non-travelling persons will not be permitted entry.
GACL expressed appreciation to passengers and airport users for their cooperation and understanding, stating that it will continue to work closely with security agencies to ensure safe, secure and efficient airport operations.
