Upper West to Expand Access to Government Information with Two New Mobile Cinema Vans
The delivery of government information and public education campaigns in the Upper West Region is set to improve significantly following the commissioning of two modern mobile cinema vans for the Information Services Department (ISD).
The Regional Minister, Mr Charles Lwanga Puozuing Esq., officially handed over the fully equipped mobile broadcasting units to the ISD, describing the initiative as part of efforts to bridge the information gap between government and citizens, particularly in underserved communities.
The vans are equipped to conduct live broadcasts, stream national programmes, including GTV transmissions, and relay major national events such as parliamentary proceedings directly to communities and schools.
The initiative is expected to strengthen public access to government policies, programmes and civic education across the region.
In addition to the mobile cinema vans, district offices will receive desktop computers and megaphones to enhance local information dissemination and public announcement systems.
Receiving the keys on behalf of the ISD, the Upper West Regional Information Director, Mr Sinto Mustapha Nuhu, thanked the Regional Minister for the support and pledged that the department would deploy the equipment effectively to promote government programmes, educate citizens and increase the visibility of development initiatives across the region.
As part of the rollout, the vans will begin operations with live community screenings before being deployed to markets, schools and other public spaces under a regional schedule to be implemented in collaboration with the Ghana Tourism Authority.
The Regional Coordinating Council has urged residents to protect the new equipment, noting that the investment reflects the government’s commitment to improving access to information, promoting transparency and strengthening citizen engagement throughout the Upper West Region.
