The Volta Regional Minister, Mr James Gunu, has inaugurated the Eric and Auriol Earle Learning Centre at Kodzobi D/A Basic School in the Adaklu District, in recognition of the late couple’s contribution to education in the Volta Region.

The facility, inaugurated on Wednesday, includes a reading room and washroom facilities aimed at improving the learning environment and promoting literacy among pupils.

The project honours the legacy of Eric and Auriol Earle, whose contribution to education in the Volta Region dates back to their time in Ghana between 1952 and 1961.

Their four children, who grew up in Ghana with their parents, formed part of the delegation that returned to the country to support the initiative and give back to the region.

In his remarks, Mr Gunu commended the Earle family and their partners for undertaking the project, describing collaboration as important to improving educational infrastructure and expanding learning opportunities for children.

He noted that facilities such as the reading room could help encourage reading and strengthen pupils’ access to learning resources, while the provision of washroom facilities would contribute to a better school environment.

The inauguration marked a continuation of the Earle family’s connection with Ghana and recognised their contribution to education in the Volta Region.
