Tourism Minister Urges Africans to Support Local Creative Products

• 1 MIN READ

The Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has called on Africans to support the continent’s products and creative works by embracing African fashion, food, literature, films and cultural experiences.

She made the call while delivering the keynote address at the Elevate Africa Convening 2026 in Accra.

Mrs Gomashie noted that Africa’s music, film, fashion, crafts and other creative industries have the potential to drive trade, create jobs and contribute to economic growth.

The Minister also called for stronger intellectual property protection, effective royalty systems and increased investment to ensure creatives receive economic benefits from their work.

As part of efforts to promote cultural exchange and entrepreneurship, she announced that Ghana will host the Africa Festival of Arts, Culture and Creatives (AFESTAC) 2026 from December 9 to 12.

According to her, the festival will promote cultural exchange, provide opportunities for investment, entrepreneurship and opportunities for Africa’s creatives, particularly young people and women.
