Tourism Minister Calls for Stronger Ghana-EU Film Collaboration
The Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has called for stronger Ghana-European Union (EU) collaboration to create more opportunities for filmmakers and young creative talents.
She said partnerships in co-productions, training, professional exchanges, technology transfer and access to international markets would help strengthen Ghana’s film industry and expand opportunities for young creatives.
Madam Gomashie made the call at the opening of the EU Film Festival – Ghana 2026 in Accra, where she described film as a powerful tool for storytelling, preserving cultural memories and connecting people across cultures.
She said deeper collaboration with the EU would provide Ghanaian filmmakers with opportunities to develop their skills, access new technologies and build international networks.
The Minister also emphasised the role of film in promoting cultural understanding and strengthening ties between Ghana and other countries.
EU Ambassador to Ghana, Rune Skinnebach, said the festival went beyond film screenings to promote dialogue, peace, tolerance, inclusion and cultural exchange.
He said it also provided a platform for Ghanaian and European filmmakers to collaborate and develop stories that cross borders.
The festival is expected to further strengthen cultural ties between Ghana and the EU while creating new opportunities for Ghana’s film industry and creative talents.
