24-Hour Economy Is Taking Shape Factory by Factory – President Mahama

2 MIN READ

The successful expansion of Zonda Tec Ghana Limited demonstrates that the 24-Hour Economy is becoming a practical industrial reality, with modern factories driving productivity, exports and employment.

This continuous manufacturing is a central pillar of Government’s economic transformation agenda during the commissioning of Phase Three of the company’s vehicle assembly plant in Tema.

President John Dramani Mahama said this during the commissioning of Phase Three of the Zonda Tec Ghana Limited Vehicle Assembly Plant

“The 24-Hour Economy is not merely a slogan. It is taking shape factory by factory and factory floor by factory floor,” he said.

President Mahama explained that the policy was designed to encourage modern factories to operate around the clock, increase industrial output and create opportunities for young people across the country.

He noted that the investment in the expanded assembly plant was expected to almost double direct employment at Zonda Tec while creating about 1,000 additional indirect jobs in logistics, maintenance, component supply and distribution.

The President said the vehicles produced at the plant would support agriculture, mining, construction and regional trade by improving the movement of goods and services across Ghana and West Africa.

He reaffirmed Government’s commitment to maintaining a stable and predictable investment climate through improved infrastructure, simplified regulations, stronger industrial incentives and continued investment in technical education.

President Mahama urged industry to reciprocate by deepening localisation, expanding technology transfer, developing Ghanaian suppliers and using Ghana as a manufacturing base for exports into African markets.

He said manufacturing would remain a major pillar of national economic transformation and expressed confidence that more investors would choose Ghana as a destination for productive industrial investment.
