NPA Rejects Claims of Corruption in Auditor General’s Report
The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has rejected media claims suggesting corruption and financial misappropriation in its operations following the publication of the Auditor General’s Performance Audit Report on the Authority.
The Authority reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability and sound corporate governance in the discharge of its regulatory responsibilities.
In a statement, it said it would continue to work with the Audit Service and implement appropriate recommendations from the report to improve regulatory oversight, operational efficiency and consumer protection within Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector.
The NPA said it had taken note of a media publication commenting on the report covering the period 2023 to 2025 and clarified that the audit did not establish any financial or revenue loss to the Authority.
The Authority said descriptions of the report as revealing “rot”, corruption or financial misappropriation were not findings contained in the Auditor General’s Performance Audit Report.
The NPA also noted that the publication by The NewsCenta Newspaper did not include Management’s responses to the audit findings.
The NPA urged the public to rely on official communications from the Authority for accurate information regarding the matter.
