Ashanti Regional Chief Directors Pay Courtesy Call on OtumFuo at Manhyia Palace

The Chief Directors of Ghana’s Regional Coordinating Councils (RCCs), led by the Chief Director of the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council, Mr Michael Owusu Amoako, have paid a courtesy call on His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

The visit formed part of an orientation and capacity-building programme for Chief Directors of the Local Government Service being held in Kumasi.

The delegation was led by the Head of the Local Government Service, Prof. Lord Kwaku Mensah, and was intended to formally introduce the Chief Directors, who also serve as Regional Coordinating Council Directors, to the Asantehene.

Among the delegation were Mrs Felicia Dapaah Agyeman-Boakye, Chief Director at the Office of the Head of the Local Government Service (OHLGS); Jemima Lomotey of the Western North RCC; S.S. Agbeve of the Oti RCC; Rachel Fosua of the Western RCC; Alhaji Avona Mohammed Akape of the Volta RCC; and Rev. Dr Harry Kwatei Owoo of the Greater Accra RCC.

The Asantehene warmly welcomed the delegation and used the occasion to emphasise the importance of leadership rooted in service, integrity and a commitment to putting the interests of the people first.

He urged the Chief Directors to uphold professionalism, fairness and accountability in the discharge of their responsibilities across the various regions.

The Asantehene further stressed the importance of effective governance systems and adherence to the law, noting that public administration must remain connected to the needs, values and aspirations of the people.

The Chief Directors described the visit as a humbling and inspiring experience, saying it provided an opportunity to reflect on the values and principles that should guide public service.

The courtesy call formed part of broader efforts by the Local Government Service to strengthen the leadership and technical capacity of Chief Directors to effectively coordinate development and public administration at the regional level.
