Tamale 3rd Ring Road project to Ease Traffic in the Metropolis

The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Agbodza, has disclosed that the 34‑kilometre Tamale 3rd Ring Road, once completed, will ease traffic congestion and support economic activity in the Tamale Metropolis.

The project forms part of the Government’s Big Push Infrastructure Programme and is designed as an asphaltic concrete dual carriageway traversing the Tamale Metropolis and Sagnarigu Municipality.

According to him, the road will serve communities including Kanvilli, Tuunayili, Fuo, Vittin, Banvim, Datoyili, Shishegu, Kpalsi, Gurugu and Jisonayili.

Mr Agbodza said work is progressing steadily across the three lots with sections of the project ahead of schedule.

He outlined that Lot 1, covering Banvim to Jisonayili and executed by M/S China Railway No. 5, is 27.40 per cent complete and ahead of schedule. Lot 2, from Jisonayili to Kanvilli under M/S Sinohydro Corporation Limited, has reached 10.50 per cent completion. Lot 3, stretching from Kanvilli to Vittin Barrier and undertaken by M/S Munisco Limited, is 38.50 per cent complete and also ahead of schedule.

He said the project demonstrates the government’s commitment to modernise Ghana’s road network, enhances mobility, supports trade, and stimulates regional development.
