Roads Minister Urges Timely Completion of Accra–Tema Motorway Project

1 MIN READ

The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has called on contractors working on the Accra–Tema Motorway and Extension Project to intensify efforts and ensure the project is completed within schedule.

Inspecting Section 1 of the project, the 19.5‑kilometre stretch from Tema Roundabout to Tetteh Quarshie Interchange, the Minister commended Maripoma Enterprise Limited for progress made so far.

According to him, the contractor has constructed retaining walls, bridge abutments, box and bridge culverts, U‑drains, and footbridges, while sub‑base construction, earthworks, and maintenance of the existing road are ongoing.

Mr Agbodza, however, noted the need for accelerated work, urging the contractor to operate day and night to meet the agreed timeline.

“We are hopeful that we can still complete this project on schedule because the motoring public cannot understand why they have to endure these inconveniences for such a long period. Please, endeavour to ensure that we meet the target,” he said.

Mr Agbodza noted that activity on site had increased since his last visit and was confident that the project could be delivered within the agreed timeframe.
