Bambawia Islamic Institute Celebrates Milestone with Call for Gratitude and Nation-Building

The Northern Regional Coordinating Council (NRCC) has reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with religious bodies and traditional authorities to accelerate human capital development, promote civic responsibility, and maintain peace across the region.

This pledge was highlighted during the 30th Annual Quranic Ceremony of the Bambawia Islamic Institute Foundation, held on Saturday in Tamale.

Addressing attendees on behalf of the Northern Regional Minister, Mr Ali Adolf John, the Mayor of Tamale, Mr Abubakari Adam Takoro, described the Institute’s three-decade commitment to Quranic education as a pivotal force in nurturing disciplined, morally upright, and productive citizens for Northern Ghana.

Highlighting the theme of the celebration, “Gratitude: A Pathway to Spiritual Fulfilment and Social Growth,” Mr Takoro underscored that true gratitude must extend beyond words into tangible civic action and social duty.

“Education comes with responsibility. The knowledge acquired from the Holy Quran must guide our youth to become honest, compassionate, hardworking, and respectful members of society,” the Mayor stated, citing Surah Ibrahim (14:7) to remind attendees of the spiritual and practical virtues of appreciation and progress.

He urged the youth to actively reject violence, intolerance, corruption, and substance abuse, emphasising that sustainable regional progress hinges on maintaining social stability and peaceful coexistence.

Mr Takoro specifically commended the Director of the Institute, Sheikh Luqman Mohammed Bamba, for his vision, perseverance, and leadership in sustaining the annual ceremony and driving community transformation over the past 30 years.

Reinforcing the importance of spiritual partnership in governance, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Sagnarigu, Mr Abdulai Imoro Gong, commended Sheikh Bamba for his continuous intercession on behalf of national leadership and the state.

The anniversary event culminated in a special prayer session led by Sheikh Luqman Mohammed Bamba for the President of the Republic, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, his appointees, and the nation at large, seeking divine wisdom, peace, and national prosperity.

The milestone ceremony attracted key regional stakeholders, including the Chief Director of the NRCC, Municipal and District Chief Executives, traditional leaders, prominent Ulamas and Imams, parents, students, and representatives of the wider Muslim community across the Northern Region.
