Deputy Health Minister Urges Military Nurses to Uphold Compassion and Excellence
The Deputy Minister for Health, Prof. Dr Grace Ayensu-Danquah, has urged Ghana Military nurses and midwives to remain committed to compassionate care, professional excellence, and dedicated service in the discharge of their duties.
She said their responsibility extended beyond clinical care, stressing the need for military nurses and midwives to uphold the values of service and professionalism as they worked to improve healthcare delivery across the country.
Prof. Dr Ayensu-Danquah made the call at the closing ceremony of the 2026 Military Nightingales’ Week Celebration, where she encouraged personnel to continue to “care, excel and serve” by land, sea and air.
The Deputy Minister stressed the importance of preserving institutional knowledge, urging the younger generation of nurses and midwives to draw on the experience and expertise of retired personnel as they build their careers.
Prof. Dr Ayensu-Danquah reaffirmed the Ministry of Health’s commitment to supporting the Ghana Armed Forces Medical Services, particularly in the areas of welfare, training and the professional advancement of military nurses and midwives.
She congratulated the award winners and honourees for their contributions to the profession and commended the organisers, leadership of the 37 Military Hospital, sponsors, partners and personnel for their roles in making the celebration successful.
The week-long celebration brought together serving and retired military nurses and midwives to promote professional development, recognise outstanding service and celebrate their contributions to healthcare delivery.
