DCE CUTS SOD FOR THREE MAJOR EDUCATION AND HEALTH PROJECTS IN ATWIMA KWANWOMA
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Atwima Kwanwoma District Assembly, Mrs Grace Agyemang Asamoah, has cut sod for the commencement of three major infrastructure projects aimed at improving education and healthcare delivery in the district.
The sod-cutting ceremonies, held at separate locations on the same day, formally handed over the project sites to the respective contractors to commence construction works. The projects are expected to be completed within eight months.
The projects include the construction of a two-unit classroom block for the Foase Methodist Basic School, to be undertaken by Franca Limited; an Afrancho CHPS Compound with nurses’ quarters, to be executed by Ogreigns Company Limited in collaboration with Time Up Construction and Trading Enterprise; and a three-unit classroom block for the Anum Asamoah Senior High School, to be undertaken by Teckman Construction.
Addressing community members, traditional leaders, contractors and Assembly officials at the various ceremonies, Grace Agyemang Asamoah said the projects formed part of the government’s commitment to expanding access to quality education and healthcare services for residents of the district.
She called on the contractors to expedite work and ensure that the projects were completed within the stipulated eight-month period without compromising quality.
The DCE further appealed to the contractors to employ skilled and unskilled labour from the beneficiary communities, where possible, to create employment opportunities, improve household incomes and stimulate the local economy during the construction period.
Mrs Agyemang Asamoah also urged residents to take ownership of the projects by safeguarding construction materials and equipment against theft and vandalism. She encouraged community members to cooperate fully with the contractors to ensure the smooth execution of the projects.
She stressed that development was a shared responsibility and called on all stakeholders to work together towards building a stronger and more prosperous Atwima Kwanwoma District.
The contractors, in separate remarks, expressed appreciation to the Assembly for the confidence reposed in them and assured the DCE and the people of the district of their commitment to delivering quality projects within the agreed timeframe.
They pledged to work closely with community leaders, the District Assembly and other relevant stakeholders throughout the implementation period to ensure the successful completion of the projects on schedule.
Community leaders welcomed the projects and expressed gratitude to the Assembly and the government for responding to the developmental needs of their communities. They assured the contractors of their full cooperation and pledged to provide the necessary support to facilitate the smooth execution of the projects.
The DCE was accompanied by the District Engineer, Mr Bartholomew Amponsah, and other officials of the Atwima Kwanwoma District Assembly, who witnessed the ceremonies and officially handed over the project sites to the contractors.
The commencement of the projects marks another significant step in the Assembly’s efforts to improve educational infrastructure and strengthen primary healthcare delivery, ultimately enhancing the quality of life of residents across the Atwima Kwanwoma District.
