Dr Omane Boamah’s defence legacy will remain part of Ghana’s history – President Mahama
President John Dramani Mahama has paid tribute to the late Minister of Defence, Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, for his contribution to strengthening Ghana’s Armed Forces and advancing the country’s democratic governance.
Speaking at the unveiling of a cenotaph in memory of the late minister, President Mahama said Dr Omane Boamah served Ghana with dedication, humility and commitment to the security and stability of the Republic.
“His contribution to strengthening our armed forces and advancing Ghana’s democratic governance will remain part of our national story,” President Mahama said.
He said Dr. Omane Boamah’s life represented the values of service, integrity, patriotism and sacrifice, which must continue to inspire generations of Ghanaians.
President Mahama said the cenotaph was a lasting reminder of the ideals demonstrated by the late minister throughout his years of public service.
He thanked the Ghana Armed Forces for honouring their former minister and noted that Dr. Omane Boamah remains the only Defence Minister on record to have died while in active service.
President Mahama extended the sympathy of the government and people of Ghana to the family, friends and colleagues of the late minister, assuring them that his service to the nation would not be forgotten.
He prayed for comfort for all those affected by the loss and asked for God’s continued blessings for Ghana.
