President Mahama orders GH¢2 reduction in diesel price for one month
President John Dramani Mahama has directed that the regulatory margin on diesel be reduced by GH¢2.00 per litre for one month.
The directive is in line with a decision of Cabinet and building on a similar intervention implemented in April 2026.
This was contained in a statement signed by Spokesperson to the President and Minister of Government Communications. Felix Kwakye Ofosu on Monday.
According to the statement said the temporary intervention was intended to cushion consumers, prevent transport fare hikes, contain inflationary pressures, and mitigate the pass-through effect of higher fuel prices on the cost of living.
It said the directive would take effect from Tuesday, August 4, 2026, and would remain in force for one month, unless otherwise reviewed by Government.
The statement said Government would continue to monitor developments in the international energy market closely, and would take additional policy measures, where necessary, to protect the interests of the Ghanaian people and sustain economic recovery.
