President Mahama reshuffles ministerial portfolios in latest government changes

President John Dramani Mahama has announced changes to key ministerial portfolios, including the Ministries of Defence, Works, Housing and Water Resources.

Under the changes, former Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources, Mr Kenneth Gilbert Adjei has been reassigned to the Ministry of Defence, while Ahmed Ibrahim, MP, has been moved from the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs to the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources.

The reassignments form part of changes to the composition of the government by President Mahama announced in a press statement signed by Minister of State in Charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu on Friday.

The latest changes also include the nomination of Dr Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings, MP, as Minister of State for Environment, Science and Technology, and Mahama Ayariga, MP, for the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.

President Mahama has submitted the two nominations to Parliament through the Speaker for prior approval in accordance with Article 78(1) of the Constitution.

The ministerial changes affect portfolios responsible for defence, works, housing, water resources, environment, science and technology, as well as local government, chieftaincy and religious affairs.
