Information Officers from the various constituent institutes of the University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC) have undertaken a coordinated sensitization exercise to promote awareness of the Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2019 (Act 989), and improve access to information across the university community. The exercise, held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, formed part of ongoing efforts to educate students and staff about their rights under the RTI Act and the mechanisms available for requesting information from public institutions.

As key facilitators of the RTI framework, the Information Officers collaborated to ensure a unified and effective outreach campaign across all constituent institutes. Responsibilities were shared among the officers, who printed and distributed educational flyers containing essential information on the right to access information, application procedures, and the role of Information Units in supporting applicants. The materials were strategically displayed on notice boards in lecture halls, administrative offices, and other high-traffic areas to maximize visibility and engagement.
The sensitization exercise served as an important community engagement initiative, bringing the provisions of the RTI Act closer to students, faculty, and administrative staff. By making information readily accessible and visible within the campus environment, the officers reinforced the principles of transparency, accountability, and citizen participation that underpin the RTI Act. The campaign also encouraged members of the university community to take an active interest in exercising their right to seek information from public institutions.

The successful implementation of the exercise demonstrated the value of collaboration among Information Officers in advancing public awareness of the RTI Act. Through coordinated planning and execution, the officers ensured consistent messaging across all UniMAC campuses while promoting a culture of openness and informed participation. The initiative reflects the continuing commitment of Information Officers to strengthening access to information and supporting open governance through sustained public education and engagement.
