The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has assured residents of Adaklu in the Volta Region that telecommunications services in the area will improve within the next 30 days.

The assurance was given on Friday during a visit to the traditional area as part of the Ministry’s nationwide tour of telecommunications facilities and digital skills training centres.

According to the Minister, work is ongoing at about 13 locations to address network challenges in the district, while plans are underway to facilitate the deployment of an additional telecommunications mast by MTN.

As part of the visit, Mr George inspected the old Rural Telephony Project (RTP) site at Adaklu-Blidokope, the One Million Coders Programme (OMCP) centre at Adaklu-Waya, and new RTP sites at Adaklu-Dawanu and Adaklu-Kpetsu.

He said the Ministry, through the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) and the National Communications Authority (NCA), would monitor progress to ensure the timely completion and effective utilisation of the facilities.

The Minister also expressed condolences to the people of Adaklu following the loss of one of their prominent sons and assured the traditional authorities of the Government’s support.

The Paramount Chief of the Adaklu Traditional Area, Togbega Gbogbi Atsa V, and other sub-chiefs welcomed the intervention, citing the impact of poor network connectivity on residents and businesses.

They also appealed for other underserved communities in the district to benefit from future telecommunications projects.
