• 2 MIN READ

President John Dramani Mahama has called on Ghanaians living in the United Kingdom to contribute to Ghana’s development, calling for stronger engagement between Ghanaian and British institutions.

Speaking at a Presidential Cross-Party Parliamentary Meeting in London on Thursday, President Mahama acknowledged the contributions of the Ghanaian community in the United Kingdom, noting that their enterprise, hard work and participation in British society continue to strengthen the bonds between the two countries.

He also recognised the contributions of British parliamentarians who have consistently engaged on issues relating to Ghana, Africa and international affairs.

The President expressed hope that the meeting would provide a foundation for more regular and meaningful engagement between Ghanaian and British parliamentary institutions.

He encouraged participants to offer their ideas, recommendations and perspectives on how Ghana and the United Kingdom could advance their shared interests in an increasingly complex global environment.

According to him, Africa’s development requires peace, sustainable financing, economic opportunities and strong institutions, noting that Ghana-UK relations must ultimately deliver tangible benefits to citizens.

The Presidential Cross-Party Parliamentary Meeting acknowledged Ghana’s commitment to strengthening its longstanding partnership with the United Kingdom through parliamentary diplomacy, economic cooperation, security collaboration and dialogue on global development and historical justice.
